Plum Tart
Recipe type: Dessert
Plum Tart is a British food recipe with spiced plums and apples.
  • 11⁄2 cups flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1⁄2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1⁄4 tsp nutmeg
  • pinch of cloves
  • pinch of allspice
  • 2⁄3 cup butter, diced
  • 1⁄4 cup cold water
  • 1 lb plums, halved and pitted
  • 4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1⁄2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp butter, diced
  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and spices. Cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal. Add cold water and knead until it holds together.
  2. Divide dough into 2⁄3 for the bottom crust, 1⁄3 for the top. On a lightly floured surface, roll out bottom crust; line a 10-inch pie plate.
  3. Fill with fruit; sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice; dot with butter.
  4. Roll out top crust; place over fruit and crimp to seal. Cut a few decorative cuts in the upper crust, making sure not to pierce through to the bottom.
  5. Bake in preheated 425F oven for 20 minutes. Reduce to 375F and bake for 25 minutes or until golden.
