Riskrem | Creamed Rice with Whipped Cream
Recipe type: Dessert
Riskrem | Creamed Rice with Whipped Cream is a Norwegian food recipe topped with homemade strawberry syrup.
  • 1 box frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1½ tlbs. Cornstarch
  • ¾ cup white rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1 whole peeled almond
  1. Cook the rice, salt, and milk and vanilla together. Simmer for 60 to 90 minutes for the rice to soften and for the mixture to thicken.
  2. Boil strawberries and water for 5 minutes. Mix starch with a little water. Add to the strawberry mixture. Bring to a boil again, stirring continuously to thicken. Turn off the heat and cool it.
  3. Add sugar to rice mixture and put into the fridge to chill. When chilled stir in the whipped cream.
  4. Put in the one whole almond and drizzle over syrup.
