Recipe type: Entree
Retfo is an Ethiopian food recipe of ground beef with peppers and onions.
  • 11⁄2 oz butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 11⁄2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 dried chili pepper, crushed
  • 11⁄2 tsp salt
  • 1⁄4 tsp black pepper
  • cooked rice
  1. Heat butter over medium heat, then saute onion and green pepper until both are softened.
  2. Stir in beef and cook for about 3 minutes.
  3. Mix chilies with salt and pepper, and add to meat mixture. Stir in well.
  4. Continue cooking until meat is brown.
  5. Serve with rice for a main meal.
