Pizza Margherita

The most popular American pizza recipe, pizza Margherita.
Ingredients
  • • 2 cups tomato sauce or 4 plum tomatoes sliced
  • • 1 cup chopped onions
  • • ½ cup basil leaves, thinly sliced
  • • 1 TSP finely chopped garlic
  • • 1 TSP dried oregano
  • • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • • salt and pepper to taste
  • • extra-virgin olive oil
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 500F.
  2. Cover the pizza crust with a thin layer of tomato sauce or sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle with chopped onions, sliced basil leaves, chopped garlic, oregano, mozzarella, parmesan and salt and pepper.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges of the crust are golden brown.
  5. Other possible toppings, pitted sliced olives, anchovies, dried thyme, crumbled gorgonzola cheese, sausage, pepperoni, ground meat, pieces of chicken, seafood, green/red peppers.
