Lentils and Rice
Recipe type: Entree
Lentils and Rice is a popular Israeli food recipe.
  • 1 cup lentils
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • 1 water
  1. Saute lentils in 2 tbsp oil for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add 3 cups of water, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cover and let simmer for about 40 minutes.
  2. In another pan, fry rice in 2 tbsp oil. Add 2½ cups of water and chicken bouillon. Cover and simmer slowly about 20 minutes.
  3. When both rice and lentils are done, mix together and add more seasoning if necessary. Sprinkle with chopped onions.
