Kalops
Recipe type: Entree
 
Kalops is a Swedish food recipe for beef stew.
Ingredients
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 11⁄2 lbs boneless stewing beef, cubed
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 11⁄4 tsp salt
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 10 whole allspice berries
  • 2 cups water
Instructions
  1. Heat butter in a heavy saucepan and brown meat well on all sides.
  2. Sprinkle with flour and salt, stirring well.
  3. Add onions, bay leaf, allspice, and water.
  4. Cover and simmer until tender, for 11⁄2 to 2 hours. Serve with boiled potatoes and beets.
