Recipe type: Dessert
Halva is an Iranian food recipe of sweet paste sprinkles with nuts.
  • 8 oz oil
  • 12 oz flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1⁄2 cup rosewater
  • 8 oz sugar
  • ½ cup finely chopped almonds and pistachios
  1. Heat oil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Gradually pour in the flour, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Make a syrup by mixing the water, rosewater and sugar in a separate pot. Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Stir the syrup into the flour, mix well, and cook for a few minutes over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat, and let cool slightly for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Transfer the paste into a lightly oiled jelly mold.
  6. To serve, unmold and sprinkle with nuts.
