Ash-e-jow
Recipe type: Soup
 
Ash-e-jow is an Iranian food recipe of barley soup.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup barley
  • ½ cup green or red lentils
  • 6 cup water
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried mint
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp pepper
Instructions
  1. Saute the onions. Put everything into a pot and bring to a gentle boil.
  2. Simmer for at least an hour, stirring occasionally.
  3. A cup of cooked chickpeas or kidney beans can be added before serving.
